Tablet Shards: Locations and Rewards

Quick Answer

There are 99 Tablet Shards in the full game, including 12 in Chapter 1. Give them to the Enigmatic Princess at Oblivion Palace; chest requirements are cumulative totals, not separate purchases.

The full game contains 99 Tablet Shards; Chapter 1 contains 12. They appear as golden sparkles in towns and dungeons. Bring them to the Enigmatic Princess at Oblivion Palace to unlock reward chests as your delivered total reaches each threshold.

If you are missing a shard, search by area and landmark, not a number copied from another guide: different guides order some pickups differently. Keep separate records for places you have checked, shards collected, and shards already handed over. This page groups the complete launch location set by area without treating another site's numbering as an in-game identifier.

Chapter 1: the first 12 shards

AreaCountCheck these landmarks
Grandshelt Commercial District1The crates beside the vendor stalls, north of the weapon shop.
Village of Kol1The left bank of the southwestern oasis pool, near the cactus.
Felicitas2One beside the item shop on the eastern side. For the other, take the concealed western route near Rolan's house, climb its ladder, and check left behind the wall.
Kolobos Ruins2Behind the pair of laboratory tanks after the early stairs; behind the fallen pillar after the bridge-collapse sequence and climb back up.
Grandport Harbor2Behind the barrels on the southern pier; beside the tree west of the equipment shop.
Cavern of Swords1Behind the rock formation at the back of the cave.
Siren's Tower3The eastern ledge near the entrance fountain; the far-right ledge before the upper hallway; the ledge reached by the stairs in the following room.

The area totals agree across the PowerPyx full-game route, Game8's location guide, and Vorxu's early collection notes. Felicitas has two distinct pickups, and Siren's Tower has three: checking only the obvious route is a common reason a Chapter 1 tally remains short.

Chapters 2 to 4

The counts below are additional shards in each area, not cumulative palace totals. The first three chapters together contain 42 locations in this route; Chapter 4 adds 16 more.

Chapter 2: 15 additional shards

AreaCountLocation checks
Dilmagia town2First left-side recess by the closed illuminated gate; crates at the junction between the noticeboard and shops.
Dilmagia Shipyard2End of the upper-left stair route near a ladder; the lower-right walkway beside a metal support.
Mt. Thunderclap3The standard harder path near the yellowish tree; Lid's shortcut beyond its ladder; the secondary entrance reached from the world-map route near Zidane's sanctum.
Dwarven Forge2Southwestern end of the main floor across the bridge; south of the lower Mom Bomb area.
Mobliz Shipyard3Crates at the far-left end of the entrance area; down the ladder behind the generators after the first lift; behind the red shipping container beyond the second lift.
Wind Shrine3Behind the right-hand pillar at the first elevator area; the right edge of an elevator staircase; the left side of the later elevator platform before the second save point.

Chapter 3: 15 additional shards

AreaCountLocation checks

Cave of Waters3Beside the dock at the end of the boat maze; by the waterfall in the save-point room; on the ladder route revealed when the story later brings you back.
Waterfall Way3At the east end of the second area's upper path beside a ladder; on a stone platform in the waterfall room; among the northern waterfalls beyond the wooden bridges.
Amore2Beside the well south of the shops; by the tree north of the item shop, before the long bridge.

AreaCountLocation checks

Capital Station1By the eastern entrance stairs.
Zoldaad city3Castle Plaza east of the tram stop; southeastern Residential District; barrels just east of the Slums arrival point.
Underground Tunnel2From the metal walkway, descend and turn west before going south into the corner; the concealed room accessed beneath a bridge beyond the pot enemy.
Rebel Hideout2Behind the pillar near the northeastern stairs; the hidden route behind the northwestern room with two flags, leading to crates and a ladder.
Weapons Factory2Across the girder raised by the western crystal switch; the upper three-switch platform reached by the long ladder near the save point.

Zoldaad Castle2Behind the left horse statue by the throne-room stairs; southeastern corner of the first room off the upper right hallway.
Grandshelt Colosseum1Western end of the entrance path. The Colosseum opens during Chapter 4, so this is a return visit to an earlier city.

Chapters 5 to 8

Chapter 7: eight additional shards

AreaCountLocation checks
Sian1Under the blossom tree east of the item shop.
Mt. Reizan2The lower route at the early ramp junction; the platform with two pine trees between wooden bridges.
Lake Ryusei1Under the tree on the western side.
Forest Path2Roadside bend north of the first save point; dead end southwest of the second.
Wandering Lands2Left branch after the first save point; rubble along the route after the later scene.

Chapter 8: the final four locations

AreaCountLocation checks
Crystal Tower3Right branch at the first junction; left at the next junction, then right; north from the third solid platform in the translucent-bridge area, then west.
Dragon's Maw1Near the end of the dungeon around the visible Rogue Magitek Armor encounter.

These area counts total 99. The full-game landmarks are cross-checked against the two launch location guides linked above; the wording groups equivalent locations instead of reproducing either source's numbered walkthrough.

Check these return routes before repeating a whole dungeon

  • Mt. Thunderclap: the paid shortcut and harder route contain different shards. PowerPyx describes returning to the entrance through a save-point teleport to check the other path; taking one route first is not proof that the other pickup is lost.
  • Cave of Waters: one pickup sits on a route the story opens on a later visit. An inaccessible early path is not an instruction to keep searching the same room before progressing.
  • Weapons Factory: at the platform with three crystal switches, the launch guides describe operating the left switch three times to reach the shard. Follow that instruction from the corresponding puzzle state rather than applying it to an unrelated crystal switch.
  • Dungeon: both cell pickups depend on the Master Key. Search the original prison room again after you obtain it.
  • Sanctissimus Shrine: north of the second save point, look behind the stairs on the north side of the horizontal room for the eastern hidden entrance. Climb through that room toward the Violet Pot to reach the pickup above.

PowerPyx reports that Tablet Shards remain collectible in post-story free roam. That supports returning for missed pickups; it does not mean every location is accessible before its story or key requirement.

Oblivion Palace and reward thresholds

Oblivion Palace stands on the headland east of Grandport, on the route toward Felicitas, and can be visited during Chapter 1. Speak to the princess in the lobby and deliver your shards. The four chambers contain 25 reward boxes in total.

The threshold is your running delivered total. A box marked 12 does not cost twelve more shards after you opened the 9-shard box. When checking progress, do not confuse the shards currently left in your inventory with all shards you have already delivered.

Delivered totalUseful milestone
3Vitality Charm; the first palace box.
12Stagger Ring; the Chapter 1 set reaches this threshold.
60War Pick and the memory milestone associated with Memento.
76Ancient Firearm, used in the Legendary Arms collection route.
80First Adamantite reward.
84Ancient Whip.
89Second Adamantite reward.
99Lightbringer and the final palace box.

Vorxu's palace reward table supplies the chest thresholds; PowerPyx separately identifies the trophy-related totals. 99 opens every box, while 89 reaches the highest shard threshold PowerPyx identifies for the relevant trophy materials. Choose the target that matches your collection goal rather than assuming that opening the first few boxes finishes the palace.

Tablet Shards do not directly Awaken Visions. Some palace boxes award Magicite materials, but those are separate items used at the Vision enhancement menu.
